Macarons.

Last night I went with some friends to a beaut kitchen, decorated with flowers and fairy lights, to learn from a master how to make the elusive macaron. I took along my camera in the hope to share many pretty pictures of the night with you but the memory card was not in it! Oh how I nearly cried because it really was the nicest set up and when the 200+ macarons were set out to pipe with filing it looked grand!

Talita, macaron extraordinaire, did an amazing job sharing all her secrets with us and we eat received a little book full of recipes and 'maca-woes'.

I had every intention of photographing my wee box of take home macarons to share but unfortunately they were scoffed before I got the chance (with help!) even though Talita said they are better after a day in the fridge! I could not wait! We made salted caramel, rose water, pistachio, toblerone and lavender with white chocolate (my favourite of the bunch).

Watch this space for my macaron attempt. Some pictures of Talitas macarons below taken from her blog.

Thank you Talita and Chelsea for your kitchen!

Tiny Space.

On Cross St, a lovely wee store, has these grand earrings for sale on their website and I like them quite a lot. If only my ears weren't almost closed up!

And I hope the weather man's kind to us this weekend and we get some more of this.
Have lovely S days.

I think it's safe to say.

I hadn't said a word incase I jinxed it but I think, with almost all the flights booked, it's safe to say I'm off to Ireland and Nepal at the end of the year.

Yippee!

It's out of here!

Paris is out of here! But due to a lucky find yesterday there will be another Paris map on the stall at
We can create. It's a beauty too!

Note to self.

North Wharf.

I also made it all the way down to the North Wharf and roamed around snacking on Pelon Mini's sent to me from Mexico, gracias Esnupi! Wynyard Quarter is quite grand and I hope to spend more lazy hours in the sun there.

Something new on Federal.

I spent the afternoon yesterday roaming around in the sun and passed this lovely new place on Federal St, I did not enter but those chairs are mean I'll be back!

And I just found this note about it here. Depot here I come!

‘Depot’ is going to be a frantic and fast paced eatery, serving unpretentious food on plates to share. There’s a raw bar, where oysters and fresh shellfish will be shucked to order. The main kitchen (open) will feature a large charcoal grill and a hard wood oven. The food is fresh and all about sharing: think crab cakes, roasted whole fish, smoked 12hr brisket, crisp pork hocks etc. Two or three components on the plate, no dots, no smears, no foams!

A small wine list, with one beer and one cider on tap. The emphasis will be on fast and efficient fuss free service. Wine served in tumblers, high leaners and tables, eating at the bar, plates of food arriving at speed in a slightly random but logical order. Professional wait staff…..no posers with attitude or the ‘too cool for school’ servers here, just hard working waiters with their sleeves rolled up, getting on with looking after you!
